День равенства женщин

В этой статье мы поделимся подборкой материалов на темы “Equality, Women’s rights и Gender stereotypes”, которые можно использовать на уроке как выборочно, так и составить по ним отдельное занятие.

Что же можно сделать в этот день на уроке английского?

1. Предложить ученику высказать свою точку зрения по поводу цитат

Здесь вы найдете больше цитат о равенстве полов от Goodreads или Brainy Quote.

2. Обсудить вопросы

Обсудите вопросы по теме. Ниже примеры вопросов, которые можно использовать:

• When you hear the word gender equality, what comes to your mind?
• Why is it important to talk about women’s rights?
• Is gender equality a concern for men?
• How do the roles of men and women differ in the family?
• Is there any legislation in your country which tries to equalise the opportunities which men and women have when they are searching for jobs? Does it work?

3. Устроить Debates

Устроить дебаты. Правила простые: студент и преподаватель выбирают противоположные стороны  в вопросе и стремятся переубедить друг друга (если работает с группой, разделите класс на две части).

Примеры утверждений могут быть такими:

1) 

• People aren’t discussing equality anymore. It has become a reality.
• “Glass ceiling» is not a myth. It’s a real problem women face at work.
• A lot of laws have been passed to ensure equality in the workplace.
• In many countries, married couples can choose whether the man or the woman takes a leave from work to look after the newly arrived baby.
• Men and women now share household responsibilities.

2)

• The problem of inequality will never cease to exist.
• Men generally work harder than women. This is the reason why the majority of top managers are male.
• Women are often not given enough responsibility at work based on the possibility that they might need to take a maternity leave.
• Even if a man has a choice between having to work or having to look after a child, he will still choose work.
• It’s always easier for a woman to clean the house herself, then ask her husband to help: men are hopeless at housework.

4. Бросить вызов стереотипам

Задача преподавателя — подобрать утверждения, с которыми ученик вряд ли согласится. Утверждения могут быть такими:

• Women should take care of the children, cook, and clean the house, while men take care of finances and do the home repairs.
• A man should propose to a woman. It’s unnatural for a woman to ask a man to marry her.
• Women are bad drivers, and men are bad cooks.
• Women talk and gossip more than men do.
• Women are overly concerned with tidiness.

Задача ученика — не согласиться, и объяснить, почему.

5. Поговорить о gender-inclusive language

Расскажите ученику о том, какие слова являются гендерно-нейтральными и потренируйтесь использовать гендерно-нейтральные местоимения.
