National Workaholics Day is on the 5th of July. It is dedicated to workers chained to their desks. The main idea is to raise awareness that workaholism like any addiction can be devastating, jeopardize the health, social life and productivity. This holiday reminds us to keep a work-life balance.

According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the word first emerged in Canada in 1947 when the Toronto Daily Star published an article about addiction to work. The term was used extensively in the 1960s to refer to people guilty of excessive and compulsive work habits.
