1. When Is a Pandemic Over?

2. Covid-19 Vaccine: How Does It Affect Your Body?

Pre-watching task

Discuss in pairs:

  1. common myths about vaccines (jabs) you know.
  2. common side effects people can get after a jab.

While-watching tasks

Part 1 (0:00— 2:20) Vaccine Myths: Watch and write if these facts are true or false:

  1. Vaccines help train your body how to recognize the virus and be ready to attack.
  2. All people have similar immune systems and respond similarly to the vaccine and the virus.
  3. If you have side effects, the vaccine is not effective.
  4. When you get a jab, the vaccine tricks your body into believing you’ve been infected.
  5. Vaccine changes your DNA.

Keys: 1 — T, 2 — F, 3 — F, 4 — T, 5 — F

Part 2 (2:20 — 5:40) Side effects: Watch the second part of the video and match the phase of the vaccination and the possible side effects.

These are some common symptoms after your jab:

  1. feel tired
  2. soreness in your arm
  3. feel crummy
  4. get a low-grade fever
  5. anaphylaxis
  6. get a slight headache
  7. allergic response, such as hives or swelling
  8. feel feverish
  9. get the chills

The stages:

  1. First 5 minutes
  2. 4 hours later
  3. 24 hours later
  4. Day 21/28 (after the 2nd dose)

Keys:  a — 2, 5, 7, b — 6, 1, 4, c — 1, 8,  d — 1, 3, 8, 9.

After watching task

Discuss the questions:

  1. Are you wary of getting a jab or not? Why?
  2. Do they feel calmer after they’ve watched the video?
