3. A time capsule
Попросите учеников представить, что они собираются в путешествие и случайно находят заметки о маршруте. Их задача — прочитать, какие места нужно посетить и какова цель поездки, а также объяснить маршрут и нарисовать карту со всеми ориентирами.
So, you found some notes. Let’s read them and draw a map with all landmarks accordingly. You should visit three islands to find a time capsule.
What can be inside a time capsule?
• Documents: letters, diaries, newspapers, photographs, maps.
• Objects: everyday items (toys, tools, electronics), clothing, books, coins, stamps.
• Audio and video recordings: music, interviews and home movies.
• Artwork: paintings, sculptures, drawings.
Why do people send messages to future generations?
• Preservation of history.
• Communication with the future.
• Education and inspiration for future generations.
Answer the questions:
- What is a time capsule?
- What can be inside?
- Why do people send messages to future generations?
Попросите учеников создать капсулу времени. Что бы они положили туда? С какой целью?
Create a time capsule. Choose some objects and write a brief description of each object. Why do you choose these things? Why are they useful? Then present your time capsule. Who will find it in the future?
4. A route
Пусть студенты нарисуют карту со всеми перечисленными ориентирами, а затем составят маршрут, используя следующие фразы:
- to sail to the North/South/East/West;
- to go by boat/plane/ferry;
- to go past / straight on;
- to cross the sea/ocean;
- to turn right/left;
- to reach the place of destination.
You are going to visit three islands: Monkey Island (Vietnam), Greenland, and Madagascar. Use there is/are to describe them, make a map, and trace the route.
- Monkey Island: ancient temples, jungles, dense forests, volcanoes.
- Greenland: icebergs, a lighthouse, caves.
- Madagascar: hills, mountains, rainforests.
Answer some questions:
- What is the fastest way to travel?
- What is the safest way to travel?
- What countries are these islands close to?
- How many oceans are you going to cross? What are they?
- What things are you going to take with you? Why do you need them? (a camera, sunscreen, mosquito repellent, warm clothes)
5. Islands

Phrases:
a) to see unique animals;
b) to go hiking to the mountains;
c) to go whale watching;

f) to see the Northern lights;
g) to visit igloos, enjoy snowy landscapes;
h) to fish in a crocodile farm.

Example: a pair of worn hiking boots (a joke), a piece of ice from Greenland and a seed of a baobab tree from Madagascar and a spoilt banana from a monkey island (a joke), archive photos of these islands you have visited (now you can compare them), a diary of a traveler.
