Despite СOVID 19, summer will be summer. Everybody is waiting for it because it’s the warmest season full of sunny days and bright emotions. It’s a nice chance to improve your students’ English as well. We’ve prepared some tasks to let their skills grow. Recommended age and level: Adults, Upper-Intermediate. Just choose appropriate for your students tasks, copy and send to them.
1. Write your to-do lists in English
Writing your plans down is a great idea if you want to manage your time.
You can also make a list of food you need to buy etc. Try to integrate English into your daily routine
2. Read books in the original
During summer read some great summer books like Ray Bradbury’s best seller called “Dandelion Wine”.
There is also a story for those who like reading about love. It’s called “We’ll Always Have Summer” and you can download it here.
If you’re into reading, find more books here (they are adapted for your level).
3. Watch movies full of sun and warmth
“Mama Mia! Here We Go Again” is a musical. You can listen to catchy songs and sing them. Amanda Seyfried, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth and Meryl Streep star there!
“LOL” is a first love story. Miley Cyrus and Demi Moore will show how difficult relations between parents and teenagers can be. Anyway, the movie isn’t about the problem, it’s about the summer when you fall in love, a summer trip with your mates.
4. Practice with natives
There are lots of opportunities. You can chat with them via HelloTalk or find a community like Couchsurfing (there are some online and offline events)
5. Learn summer idioms
You can find them in Quizlet
6. Watch TV series in English
Choose a TV series or shows that is shown in English, either with or without subtitles.
The best sources to watch in English are ororo.tv and Netflix that provide access to original TV programming. If you have a Netflix subscription, you also get recommendations on the best (specially for you!) films and TV shows to stream and watch.
