Упражнение 1. The quote

Discuss the questions with your teacher: 

1. Can you think of a memorable prank that you or someone you know experienced on April Fools’ Day? Describe it.
2. What makes a prank good? 
3. Do you ever play pranks with your friends, and if so, how do they usually react?

Затем спросите, являются ли пранки безобидным развлечением, или они в какой-то степени могут быть вредными. Поговорите о важности заботы о чувствах других при планировании розыгрышей. 1. I’m such a fool, I can never tell when someone is telling a lie or not on this day.
2. The whole point of this holiday is to fool your friends and family members; I fooled my mum on April Fools’ Day this year. I told her that I had been expelled from school. 
3. One of my favorite practical jokes is covering a doorway with cling film so that when someone walks through it, they get caught and confused for a second.
4. You don’t have to have children to tell dad jokes.
5. There is a spirit of fun here, like being on a permanent holiday.
6. Maybe you have a prankster friend who enjoys practical jokes or just tricking people from time to time?
7. I do so enjoy it when my neighbours play a trick on me.

Представьте учащимся выражения и фразы со словом fool. Попросите почитать и подумать, какой посыл они передают. Обсудите ситуации, в которых сами студенты были обмануты, и то, чему они научились после этого. Поделитесь также личными историями.

• It is better to remain silent at the risk of being thought a fool, than to talk and remove all doubt of it.
• Fools rush in where angels fear to tread.
• A man who is his own lawyer has a fool for a client.
