День святого Валентина: упражнения к уроку английского

Когда изучать тему любви, если не перед самым романтическим днём в году? Мы подготовили задания к 14 февраля — они помогут расширить словарный запас и послужат отличной разговорной практикой для взрослых учеников.

1. Cute stickers

После озвученного задания попросите составить предложения с этими фразами. Игра слов в большинстве фраз на этих стикерах очевидна, поэтому упражнение можно давать даже ученикам с начальным уровнем знания английского.

• We be-lung together.
• You make me melt.

2. Valentine wishes

Покажите пожелания для валентинок. Учащиеся должны найти вторую часть предложений. Каждый раз, когда они ошибаются, им нужно придумать конец самостоятельно.

2. Happy Valentine’s Day! May your heart be as full…

4. Words or actions

Обсудите с учениками фразы для выражения любви. Попросите соединить их со значениями.

3. You mean the world to me!
4. I’m head over heels for you.

a) Expresses being madly in love, smitten, utterly captivated.
b) Expresses positive influence, bringing brightness and happiness to your days.
c) Expresses the value and significance the person holds in your life. 
d) Expresses that the person brings support, strength, and stability in your life.

Затем обсудите вопросы.

1. Which of these phrases do you like the most? Why?
2. Can you think of another way to say “I love you” without using these phrases?
3. If you wanted to create your own phrase to express love, what would it be?
4. How do people in your culture usually express love? Is it more through words or actions?
5. Do you think actions are more important than words in showing love? Why or why not?
6. In what situations do you think it’s important to express love with words?

5. 15 reasons why

Откройте фотографию игральных карт и спросите: 

Дайте ученикам несколько минут, чтобы угадать. Если они знакомы с такими картами, пусть назовут и посчитают карты.

There are four suits: hearts, diamonds, clubs, and spades. There are queens, kings, jacks, aces, and cards numbered from 2 to 10. In total, there are 52 cards (jokers not included).

Затем попросите каждого назвать человека, которого они любят. Это может быть их вторая половинка, родитель, друг и т. д. Раздайте по 15 карт. Задача учеников — назвать или написать 15 причин на каждой карте, за что они любят этих людей. Если всё же сложно выбрать конкретного человека, предложите озвучить любимое хобби, работу или вещь. Для наглядности можете показать примеры фраз для ответа.

6. The perfect gift

Попросите учеников почитать и прокомментировать утверждение. 

“A meaningful gift doesn’t have to cost a lot.”

Затем покажите слова и выражения из статьи, которую нужно будет прочитать, и дайте несколько минут, чтобы разобраться с новой лексикой:

• annual — happening once a year;
• pandemonium — wild and noisy disorder or confusion;
• snatch up — grab or take something quickly and eagerly;
• money is tight — having limited funds;
• droopy — hanging down;
• fraught — marked by distress;
• affordable — reasonably priced; not too expensive;
• quirky present — an unusual gift that stands out from typical presents;
• to pay attention — to focus or concentrate on something or someone;
• personalized — made or customized specifically for an individual;
• figurine — a statuette, especially one of a human form;
• to appreciate — to recognize the value or importance of something or someone;
• to strengthen the bond — to make a relationship or connection closer and deeper;
• belonging — happiness felt in a secure relationship;
• commitment — dedication to a particular course of action or decision, often with a sense of obligation or responsibility; 
• date — a romantic meeting when two people go out somewhere;
• last-minute gift — a present purchased or prepared at the very last possible moment before a deadline.

Откройте статью «Creative (and Cheap) Valentine’s Day Ideas». После того как ученики её прочитают, обсудите предложенные идеи для подарков. Используйте вопросы:

1. What do you think of the ideas for presents mentioned in the article? 
2. Do you consider them as creative and cheap? 
3. Do you like any of them? 

7. Impromptu speech

Откройте таймер и колесо с темами для обсуждения. Объясните суть задания. 

8. Four questions

Покажите фотографию одной известной пары, которая вместе уже много лет, и пары, которая рассталась. Задайте вопросы: 

1. What is the difference between these two couples?
2. How to find the right person for a lifelong relationship? 

Включите отрывок из фильма «The Life List» (22:50–23:35). После просмотра спросите: 

1. What are four questions a person needs to ask themselves according to the movie?
2. Can you give a breakdown of these questions? 
3. Do you think answering them can really help find true love? Why (not)? 

В конце откройте статью «The True Love Test from the Netflix Movie “Life List”». После прочтения обсудите её и разберите лексику при необходимости.
