Let’s learn ship’s different areas. Here’s a brief glossary of cruise ship parts to help you navigate.
- Bow: The front of the ship — нос корабля.
- Bridge: The area of the ship, typically located in the bow, where the captain and crew control and manage the vessel — капитанский мостик.
- Cabin: Your private onboard room, also known as a stateroom — каюта.
- Decks: The floors of the ship’s structure arranged in different levels, such as the lower, middle and upper decks — палуба.
- Galley: The ship’s kitchen — кухня на судах.
- Hull: The main body of the ship — корпус судна.
- Port: The left side of the ship when facing the bow — левый борт судна.
- Starboard: The right side of the ship when facing the bow — правый борт.
- Stern: The extreme rear of the ship — хвост корабля.
to disembark — to leave a ship, aircraft, etc. after a journey — высаживать (ся) на берег.
dock — an area of water in a port that can be closed off and that is used for putting goods onto — пристань; причаливать.
to embark — to go onto a ship — сесть на пароход.
to call at a port — to arrive at a port — зайти в порт.
to cast anchor — to throw a heavy metal object to prevent a boat or ship from moving away — бросать якорь.
berth — a bed in a boat — полка, койка.

- Играть в alias. Объясняйте слово, ученик угадывает.
- Показать картинку корабля, попросить студента отметить его части.
- Расшифровать правописание choran — anchor, thber — birth
- Перевести предложения:

The ship was built in Finland and is owned by Royal Caribbean International will go on week-long cruises of the Caribbean Sea.
The Oasis of the Seas has virtually everything a tourist can dream of. Biggest attraction is a giant open-air theatre for 750 passengers that is a swimming pool by day and an entertainment arena at night. Passengers can wander through a park full of real trees and exotic plants, eat and drink in 24 restaurants or travel up and down between decks in a movable bar. There is something for everyone: a small golf course, a basketball court, an ice rink and two rock-climbing walls for those looking for athletic activities. Mothers can leave small children in nurseries while they go shopping in the ship’s boutiques.
The best and latest technology makes the Oasis of the Seas one of the most modern ships on the seas. But, the captain says, it’s very easy to maneuver because everything is automated and runs with computers.
The owners hope that the Oasis of the Seas will earn them a lot of money. The vessel cost over 1.5 billion dollars to build and with a starting price of about 1,700 Euros for a nine day cruise it is not exactly cheap. But spending a holiday on the world’s biggest ship should be worth something.
