Задания для урока английского языка к 8 марта

Тематические задания к уроку английского языка, чтобы продуктивно и с большим интересом отметить такой важный и вдохновляющий праздник, как 8 марта. Взрослые ученики с уровнем Intermediate и выше выучат полезные слова и фразы, посмотрят видео и прокачают аудирование, поделятся своими идеями и мнениями и отработают навык устной речи.

Упражнение 1. Слово дня

В начале урока покажите ученикам фразу «Word of the day» и попросите объяснить её значение. 

Look at the phrase and define it. 

«Word of the day»

Дайте время подумать, что ещё может стать словом дня в Международный женский день в этом году.

• What words do you think may become «word of the day» for Women’s day this year? Why? 

Затем откройте онлайн-словарь, например, Dictionary и вместе с учениками посмотрите слово, выбранное в прошлом году. Изучите его и подумайте, насколько оно отражает суть этого дня. 

Look at the word of the day for March 8, 2024. 

• What was it? Do you know what it means? 
• How well does this word reflect the essence of this day?

Если урок проходит 8 марта или после него, обязательно попросите студентов проверить слово дня, которое опубликовали разные онлайн-словари. 

Упражнение 2. Цветы и букеты

Спросите у учеников, любят ли они цветы и какие. Узнайте, какие названия цветов они знают на английском языке. Изучите лексику, если они с ней не знакомы. 

1. Do you like flowers? 
   • If so, what is your favourite? 
   • If not, why? What about plants? 
2. What words for flowers do you know in English? 

Затем покажите два букета: маленький и большой. Спросите, какой им нравится больше всего, затем попросите описать каждый по очереди.

• Which of these flowers do you like more? Why? 
• Do you like small or big bouquets? 
• What is the most popular flower arrangement?

Flower arrangement — the skill or activity of arranging flowers in an attractive or artistic way.

После спросите, знают ли учащиеся следующие слова. Дайте время, чтобы они могли сопоставить слова со значениями ниже.

Упражнение 3. Важность подарков

Покажите следующее утверждение ученикам и спросите, как они понимают его смысл и согласны ли с ним.

Read the statement below. What is its main idea? Do you agree with it? Why (not)?

«A woman needs so little to be happy.»

Дайте немного времени, чтобы студенты смогли придумать смешное продолжение к этому выражению. Примите любые ответы. 

Read the statement again and think of a funny continuation. 

Попросите подумать и назвать несколько лучших универсальных подарков из категории «для неё». Затем поделитесь своими идеями. Обсудите все предложенные варианты. 

Think of top common presents «for her».

Покажите ещё один список подарков и спросите учеников, хотели бы они сами их получить.

Look at the list below. Would you like to get such presents? What can be their advantages and disadvantages?

В конце ещё раз вспомните озвученное в начале задания утверждение, покажите продолжение и обсудите его.

«A woman needs so little to be happy. As long as there is someone nearby who will give her all these gifts.»

• Do you agree with it? Do women really need a lot of presents to be happy? 
• What kind of presents did women get on this day 10 years ago? 25 years ago? 40 years ago? How are they different now and then?

По одному покажите популярные идиомы. Задача учеников попробовать разгадать их. Приведите пример с идиомой, если ученикам не удаётся дать правильное значение после трёх попыток.

Meaning: It’s a commonly used hashtag on social media. It’s used to tag pictures and posts of women that you admire. It’s a form of informal award or a simple way of posting your admiration for a lady.

Janet was a woman of the moment at the office after securing the biggest customer their business had ever had.
Meaning: a woman of importance at a particular time.

It’s going to be quite a party — the world and his wife will be there.
Meaning: everybody.

My business started out as a one-woman show. I did pretty much everything myself until I could afford to hire some help.
Meaning: a company or organization where most or all of the work is handled by one woman.

Your mom was such a kind soul, always willing to lend a hand or be a listening ear. She was truly a woman among women.
Meaning: a woman who is particularly special, outstanding, or otherwise noteworthy when compared to other women.

I don’t care if people think I’m a dried-fish woman — I refuse to date just because society thinks I should.
