Activities on Phrasases beginning with spring
As springtime rolls around flowers, trees and freshness come to our mind. To bring all these things into your ESL classroom you will need appropriate activities. Here you will find different types of tasks to help your students learn and practise Spring idioms and expressions. The activities are suitable for different levels.
Task 1. Spring Vocabulary Scavenger Hunt
Elementary — Pre-Intermediate, kids
Give your pupils a list of spring vocabulary and then take them outdoors to practice it.
Ask students to hunt for items on their list while they wander about your campus or a nearby park. Challenge children to go outside the box when it comes to recognizing the objects on their list.
When possible, ask students to bring things from the list back to you so that you may compile a spring vocabulary collection for your class.
When you’ve finished investigating, bring about ten of your stuff back into the classroom and play “What’s Missing?“. Place at least five objects on a tray and give your pupils a minute to study them. Then cover the tray and take one thing out. Uncover the tray to see who can figure out what’s missing.
The more stuff you place on the tray, the more difficult the game becomes. Instead of eliminating an object, you can relocate or alter it.

Task 4. Don’t say it. Spring
Pre-Intermediate — Intermediate
The rules of the game are quite easy and you can play it with Pre-Intermediate and Intermediate level students. Create cards with the spring phrases your students have learnt, split them into two groups and set a time limit. Each of the participant picks one card and explained the phrase given on it without using the mentioned taboo words. The team that gathers more points wins. Here is an example of taboo game.
