Reading for young learners (Movers and Flyers)

Интересная книга мотивирует детей изучать язык, на котором она написана. В этой статье делюсь изданиями на английском языке и увлекательными упражнениями для учеников начальной школы.

Содержание:

2. “Vooks” Story books

1. Серия “Primary Classic Readers”(published by “New Editions. English Language Teaching”)

Это известные сказки, адаптированные для ребят начальной школы. Книги распределены по уровням.

Level 1

• “The Three Little Pigs“;
• “Little Red Riding Hood“;
• “Goldilocks and the Three Bears“;
• “The Ugly Duckling, Jack and the Beanstalk“.

Это простые сказки для уровня Starters, то есть ребят, которые только начали изучать английский язык.

Например, “Goldilocks and the Three Bears”:

Level 2

• “Hansel and Gretel“;
• “Sindbad and the Sailor“;
• “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs“;
• “Sleeping Beauty“;
• “Puss in Boots“.

Как и в книгах первого уровня, во всех сказках для повествования используются формы настоящего простого времени (Present Simple), а не прошедшего времени, однако лексика и речевые структуры более сложные. Эти произведения подходят для ребят уровня Movers.

Level 3

Книги третьего уровня содержат формы глаголов простого прошедшего времени (Past Simple), то есть также подходят для учеников, знающих английский язык на уровне Movers.

Например, “Pinocchio” удобно читать здесь.

Каждую книгу дополняет аудиоматериал, поэтому сказки можно и слушать, и читать. На последних страницах ученики найдут словарик в картинках и упражнения. Я использовала книги в качестве домашнего задания на каникулы: ребята с удовольствием соглашались слушать, смотреть, читать сказку и выполнять к ней задания.

Например, сказка «Али Баба и сорок разбойников» в интерпретации “ELT Primary Classic Readers” отличается от классической версии, поэтому я давала ребятам читать сказку с такими заданиями:

“Read the book and write how this story is different from a usual fairy tale about Ali Baba. Do the tasks for pages“.

Этот ютуб-канал и оригинальный ресурс предлагают огромное количество новых и интересных литературных произведений. Для маленьких учеников созданы анимированные книги, которые можно посмотреть, послушать и почитать. Яркая форма очень понравится детям. Несмотря на то, что истории выглядят как мультфильмы, это все же книги.

Например, “Earth yay!” Небольшой рассказ о семье планет солнечной системы подойдет для знакомства ученика с превосходной степенью сравнения прилагательных, а также поможет ребенку больше узнать о планетах.

Task 1. Watch and read and fill in the gaps:

Забавная история о дружбе Лошади и Единорога подойдет для учеников уровня Flyer, потому что содержит более сложную лексику, а также грамматические структуры высокого уровня (такие как “I wish I were you”).

Task 1. Watch and read the story from 0:00 to 03:00 min and choose “True” or “False”.

1. Unicorn has a lot of friends.
2. Horse is Unicorn’s friend too.
3. Unicorn likes pink cupcakes but never shared them with other animals.
4. Horse eats only hey.
5. A squirrel likes to play ring toss with Horse.

Task 2. Watch and read the story till the end and sort the phrases into the columns. Some phrases can be written in both columns.

Phrases:

A silver horn, eats hey, prances, runs fast and long, eats cupcakes, makes a rainbow, sometimes grumpy, white teeth, strong teeth, a rainbow mane, was sad and unhappy, wished to be someone else.

Интересные художественные произведения с полезными заданиями сделают изучение английского языка увлекательным и продуктивным. Такие задания можно изначально делать с учеником вместе, а потом давать для самостоятельной работы, например, на каникулах. Но в этом случае обязательно нужно проверить ответы ребенка и дать ему обратную связь.
