From time to time even the most inspired English teachers turn out to be in a bewildering and confusing situation, reaching a dead-end in their profession and everyday routine. They do not find motivation in teaching anymore and stick to the daily routine. It seems that nothing interests them and nothing can help them get out of that situation. However, all is not lost — there are still ways that may help these teachers to obtain the necessary tools to feel motivated and find inspiration in every single thing. If you are among these teachers who are seeking resources for greater inspiration, then this article will turn out to be helpful and change your mood.

Follow English bloggers on Instagram*

Instagram* is considered to be a ‘platform’ for numerous professions, including teachers. Here you can find many English teachers who lead their own channel and introduce quite interesting and ‘eccentric’ ideas to make your classes impressive and original. Here are the pages that I personally follow on Instagram*:

— @linguamarina is a bilingual Youtuber and entrepreneur. She is the founder of LinguaTrip, which helps people to find a language course and study abroad. Marina is not only a good businesswoman but also a loving wife and a caring mother. Every day she gives tips and shares her experience on how to work and be a loving mother, not losing motivation.

— @linguatrip_ is the Instagram* page of the company held by Marina Mogilko (@linguamarina) where you will find lots of fascinating videos on different topics of the English language, such as grammar, vocabulary, the difference of American and British pronunciation, slang words, etc. The videos will definitely freshen up your English classes making your students look at specific things of the English language from a different angle.

— @english.maria.batkhan is an English teacher, who is quite active on the social media sharing interesting videos on different grammar and vocabulary materials, explaining them in an original and proper way. From time to time she also livestreams and answers the audience’s questions.

Participate in Speaking clubs

Sometimes what we really lack is communication with our colleagues out of school. Teaching English to students may be not so challenging, especially when you are working with lower levels. We usually do not see progress in ourselves and lose motivation in almost everything. The key to this problem is participating in English speaking clubs. You can organise it with your colleagues or find some speaking clubs online. Before attending a speaking club, make sure you know the upcoming topic and the corresponding words. It will help you to speak confidently and to expand the topic.

Watch inspiring videos

Watching inspirational videos on Youtube will definitely help you to set a new goal in your life and to work on it. You can also share these videos with your students or start a lesson with a short part of it. It will set a good and fresh atmosphere in your classroom. Here are some Youtube channels where you can find plenty of motivational videos:

Video Advice

Follow teachers on TED talks

There are plenty of motivating videos on Tedtalks on how to become successful, what happiness is, how to work effectively, etc. Previously we have introduced an article with eight amazing TED talks that will encourage teachers and make them go ahead. Another branch of TED is TEDEd. Here you will find original lesson ideas and videos which will boost not only your but also your students’ interest in the classroom.

Follow the Hashtag

What we really need is sometimes just a simple “thank you” to feel appreciated. There is a widespread hashtag #thankateacher on social websites, such as Instagram* and Twitter, where students thank their teachers for the job they have done. If you search this hashtag on a daily basis, you will understand how important a teacher’s job is and how much we can do for our students.

Attend conferences

What can be more inspiring than listening to ELT professionals about the best techniques and methods in teaching? Moreover, it is a great place for communicating and sharing great ideas with other teachers.

Read teachers’ blogs

From worksheets to extra skills practice, teachers can find the perfect addition to their lessons simply by checking social media pages of other teachers. I personally follow such teachers as Polina KordicArtyom Morozov and Irina Ageykina.

We do hope that the resources mentioned in the article will help our teachers to be always inspired and in high mood. Spring is the perfect time for greater inspiration.
