5 интересных заданий на Quantifiers

Cегодня мы поговорим о Quantifiers и как помочь студенту при индивидуальном обучении закрепить их в говорении. В большинстве случаев эта тема несложная для учащихся, однако всегда хочется порадовать их чем-то интересным.

Geography game

Уровни: Pre-Intermediate — Intermediate

Цель: закрепить a lot of, many, much, few, little, none в диалоге.

Задание для студента:
Think of the country or a city but don’t tell each other what it is. Ask the quantity questions about these things to guess the country(the city):
A: Are there any skyscrapers?
B: No,there aren’t many./ None/ Yes, there are a lot.
A: Is there much rain?
B: No, there isn’t much./ Yes, there’s a lot.

mountains              wildlife           pyramids           skyscrapers          snow               crime
tourism              bicycles             fresh              water             people           pollution              beaches

Преподаватель и студент могут по очереди загадывать страны или города, например, Амстердам, Токио, Париж, Нью Йорк, Египет, Бразилия.

Going on holiday

Уровни: Elementary – Pre-Intermediate

Цель: отработать quantifiers в контексте путешествия.

Преподаватель демонстрирует коллаж с различными предметами, которые пригодятся на отдыхе или дает их списком:

suncream           tissues                  tablets                      a jacket                insect                     repellent
a credit card                   cosmetics                    a magazine                         a book                 batteries
towels                           snacks                         a T-shirt                         a dress                          money
perfume                             jewellery

Задание для студента:
Where are you going on holiday this year? Imagine that you have to pack your suitcase now. Tell me what would you take with you and the quantity of these things.
For example,
I need/want/plan to take a few snacks because I might be hungry on the train.

Уровни: Pre-Intermediate — Intermediate

Цель: закрепить квантификаторы в свободном говорении.

Задание для студента:
Read the situations:
a time when you tipped too much or too little
a time when you didn’t buy something because you have a little cash and you
couldn’t use your credit card
a time when you spent all your money on clothes
a time when your friend got into a lot of debt
a time when all of your money was stolen from your bag
a time when you wanted to give money to some street performers but you had only a few coins and no small change.

Choose 1 and talk about it for 2-3 mins.

Как вариант, можно попросить студента рассказать как изменилась его жизнь за последние 5 лет, используя Quantifiers:

a lot of               lots of               a few                 a little                     too many                     less
none of              some              enough               too much                fewer

Уровни: Pre-Intermediate — Intermediate 

Цель: закрепить на практике отличие all/both none/ neither. Какие квантификаторы мы используем, когда мы говорим о двух людях и более двух.

Преподаватель находит фото где изображены два человека и три. Затем просит студента найти сходства, используя all/ both none/neither. Например:
All of the girls (are wearing skirts)
None of the girls (have long hair)
Both boys (are wearing T-shirts, like playing soccer etc)
Neither of these boys (look frightened)

Film report

Уровни: Pre-Intermediate — Upper-Intermediate

Цель: закрепить выражения all/a few/some/none of them c помощью видеоролика.

При групповом обучении обычно студенты взаимодействуют друг с другом, а потом отчитываются преподавателю:

All of us like jazz.
A few of us are scared of spiders.

Однако при индивидуальном обучении для такого отчета можно использовать картинки или короткое видео. Главное, чтобы в нем было большое количество людей, совершающих разнообразные действия. Отбирать видео нужно с учетом интересов студента.

Задание для студента:
Watch this trailer and pay attention to the following actions which people do:
to get infected
to play the grand piano
to let people out of the locked room
to travel in a spaceship
to discover a new planet
to attack people

Now report the actions of these people using the phrases:
All of them/ A lot of them/ A few of them/ Some of them / None of them.

For example, Some of people got infected. None of them were playing the grand piano etc.
